About GFA: Admissions

The Governor French Academy, a microcosm of the world, actively seeks a diverse student body and admits students without regard to race, color, creed or national origin. As such, The Academy enjoys a culturally, racially, religiously, and ethnically diverse student body. Applicants are considered for admission on the basis of interviews with the parents and student, informal evaluations for Form K and Form K-1 students and a minimum of a one-day visit for all other students. These serve as fact-finding opportunities for The Academy and as a means for parents to evaluate The Academy's alternative approach to education.

Parents who wish to enroll their child(ren) in Form K and Form K-1 (roughly equivalent to United States grades pre-kindergarten and kindergarten) do so by contacting the school. The child(ren) will then be evaluated in school readiness skills. A meeting between the parents and Director of Admissions will follow to determine if admission shall be granted.

Students in Form I and above (roughly equivalent to America's grade 1 and up) will be asked to spend a day at Governor French Academy. This visit affords the opportunity to the student to learn about The Academy's academic day and provides the faculty a chance to observe and evaluate the student under classroom conditions. After the student's visitation a meeting with the parents and student is held with the Director of Admissions to determine if the student, parents and school want to enter into a contract for the student's education.

The Governor French Academy uses a rolling admissions process. The Director of Admissions will meet with any interested party at any time during the year. Because The Academy promises that classes will be held to sizes that have proven highly effective, some qualified students may be put on a waiting list.

For more information on the Governor French Academy application process, you may submit the Admissions Information Request form or send an e-mail to the Director of Admissions at admiss@governorfrench.com.
