Each school day at The Academy begins at 8:00 a.m., when all students attend Convocation under the direction of the Headmaster. During this time announcements are made and recognition is given to students who have excelled in academics or otherwise. On Thursdays, Convocation is conducted in Spanish. Announcements and recognitions on this day are given in Spanish. Students are called upon to translate announcements into English. On Thursdays, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited both in Spanish and in English.
Students are dismissed from Convocation with the Headmaster's declaration, "Do your best and go to class." Classes follow immediately after Convocation and continue until the lunch break at 11:00 a.m. Classes resume at 12:00 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Lower School Students are dismissed at 4:00 p.m.; Upper School Students are dismissed at 4:15 p.m. The Academy offers extended hours that allow for drop-off as early as 7:15 a.m. and pick-up as late as 5:15 p.m. Students requiring Extended Academy are under the supervision of a teacher at all times. Charges incur for Extended Academy. |
