Chess at Governor French Academy continues to be a planned activity during the academic school year. Current volunteers, Coach Schmidt and Coach Hill, provide chess instruction during scheduled chess club meetings for interested Governor French students. We currently meet each Wednesday (except for early dismissal Wednesdays) from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
Active participation in chess can be of immense value to your child. Studies have shown that students who get interested and involved in learning chess also learn valuable life skills, such as patience, planning, concentration and more. Those abilities translate to improved grades, and to a brighter future. Chess, especially when learned at a young age, often becomes a treasured lifelong activity.
